Chicago Medical Dermatology Conditions Pityriasis Rosea

This is a common skin disease that causes a rash. It is thought that it can be associated with a viral infection/exposure. The rash characteristically starts as a mother patch, or "Herald Patch" that is then subsequently followed by smaller patches on the trunk and extremities. The rash can be asymptomatic or very itchy. It usually lasts 6-8 weeks.

Treatment
Symptomatic treatment including topical corticosteroids, systemic prednisone, antihistamines, anti-pruritics
